Title: Hodge theory and Gröbner degenerations
Abstract: Gröbner degenerations relate projective schemes to schemes defined by monomials. When the special fiber is a Stanley-Reisner scheme, its combinatorics encodes rich information about the original scheme. Conca and Varbaro showed that such degenerations preserve the dimensions of all twisted structure-sheaf cohomology groups, in particular, Cohen-Macaulayness, and regularity. They also conjectured restrictions on the singularities of the affine cones along the degeneration. In this talk, I will explain this conjecture and describe a proof using Hodge theory.
