This contribution discusses the following topics related to the
application of Computer Algebra (CA) and Integrated Computing Systems
(ICS) in higher education : (1) CA / ICS as a key tool in high-tech
research and education of exact sciences and modern engineering. (2) The
use of CA / ICS as a part of a complex application of information
technology in education. (3) Specific requirements on the CA / ICS
packages to be used in physics and engineering curricula. (4) Particular
application of CA / ICS at the FNSPE CTU, information on selected courses
in information sciences and introductory / advanced physics. (5) Plans for
future application of CA / ICS in education at the FNSPE CTU, their role
in the development of the virtual department of physical sciences and
information pedagogy. The full text of the presentation will be available
