Math 327, Introduction to Mathematical Thinking and Discrete Structures

About the textbook

Our required text will be "Discrete Mathematics with Graph Theory", third edition or the Classic edition, by Goodaire and Parmenter, which has ISBN 9780134689555. The third edition is hardcover and may be hard to find now. The classic edition has the same artwork on the cover and is paperback. The bookstore should have used copies. I recommend avoiding older editions. Few problems will be assigned from the book, but some of the material you will need to learn primarily from the reading.

A Remote Scheduled Class

This class will be "remote scheduled" and here is what that will mean, most weeks. Most weeks we will meet online twice, for about 30 minutes each time, to discuss student questions. Midterms and perhaps quizzes will happen during one of the scheculed times. The bulk of the mathematical content will be in a sequence of three or four video segments, each about eight minute long, that you will be asked to view prior to the schduled time.

More technical and accesibility issues

Be sure your UNM email account is working and you have a way to check it daily. There are limitations on how I can send to non-UNM email accounts.

Not much more will show up on this website, as we will be utilizing UNM-Learn . Before classes start is a good time to discover if there are techical or accessibility issues related to your viewing material at UNM-Learn. My plan is to use YouTube to host videos.
