Information for International Applicants
Thank you for considering the Department of Mathematics and Statistics for your graduate work. The information provided in the following link to a PDF file will give you valuable information if you are an International Student planning to attend the University of New Mexico for Graduate study.
Included in the information will be what you need to know about applying to International Admissions and things you should do once you are accepted into the graduate program in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
The document also contains information on alternatives means of attending UNM if you are not awarded a Teaching Assistantship for the first year. It gives you important budget information for your visa process. We explain some of the things that you should and should not do in the application process.
We want you to be aware of things that can slow down your application process, and correct those before you do them.
Finally this document discusses the culture of Albuquerque and what you can expect when you get here. The last part of the document gives you some idea of what it will cost to live in Albuquerque while you do your graduate program.
We have included three budgets to give you an idea of costs:
- one budget is with no support
- one is with a “special TA”
- the last is with full support from the Department.
As we mentioned earlier, these budgets can be used to help you determine what you will need to live for the academic year in Albuquerque.
